I wasn't expecting Serena to kiss Ash. But anyway, I'm now satisfied the way she leaves to the next region.
Also:
It's nice to see Ash and Clemont battle for the final time as a homage to the first episode of XY, although it's too bad that the outcome is unknown and no farewell speech between the two.
A great way to end the series, although it could've been better a little bit.

Fanfic Idea
I am not pretty much a Fanfic writer, but I eventually came up with the interesting and compelling idea of Ash's story.
Ash Ketchum and his partner Pokémon Pikachu are still on their journey to become a Pokémon Master. Now that he is seventeen years old, he is now eligible to compete in the Master League as he receives the invitation letter. (A/N: Equivalent of Play! Pokémon Master's Division)
However, Ash has been recently plagued by nightmares. A mysterious voice within Ash's subconscious said that the latter has been cursed by an unknown entity and in one year, Ash's main body will vanish, his the spirit will send him back
Pokemon Companion Poll
It has been already 20 years since Pokémon first aired in Japan. In addition, there was a popularity poll made in Japan about "Which companion would you like to see Ash travel with again?". The vote was commenced between April 23 to April 30, and the result was revealed yesterday.
